'ART WORKS' - is my very first exhibition of paintings. This is a two person show, and it was held at Chitra Kala Parishath Art Complex - Bangalore - from 3rd to 6th May 2007.
This blog contains my experiences as an artist who has had her first exhibition of paintings at the most prestigious gallery in the city. My good friend Raji Chacko and I exhibited some of our paintings about forty of them, twenty each, at the Chitra Kala Parishad at Bangalore India. The exhibition was held from 3rd May 2007 to 6th May 2007. We received a lot of accolades and also were well reviewed by the newspaper media. We also had pleasantly surprising visits of celebrities from the cinema and the art world. Photograhs from the exhibition, newspaper reviews, critique comments are all exhibited here, in this blog along with my works, which were exhibited in the exhibition. usha shantharam
For me fine art is a life long continous learning experience. I feel I am constantly learning about myself and the world around me. I never seem to get enough of it. Depicting God's own wonderous nature, the people and emotions, and even man made creations on canvas is an exhilerating experience for me.
My favourite art icon is 'Monet'. I love his 'impressionist' style of painting landscapes, which I use in most of my paintngs. My favourite Indian idol is Raja Ravi Varma, whose portrait paintings had truly inspired me during childhood days, and led me into the world of fine art.
'My personal philosophy is to open people's minds to the beauty of our times and the scenes of everyday life around us' - usha
